Residential Retaining Walls and Other Vertical Hardscapes

Create usable levels, define planting areas or add privacy with a wall designed for your landscape.

LaBarge Landscape builds retaining, planter and perimeter walls using materials that complement your home and outdoor space. We also evaluate existing walls for possible repairs.

Wall Options for Your Landscape

Whether you need to support a change in elevation or frame a garden bed, LaBarge can help plan a wall that fits the property. Options include:

  • Retaining walls
  • Planter walls
  • Perimeter walls
  • Decorative caps
  • Gates and metalwork

Material choices include cement block, brick, interlocking wall units, railroad ties and treated lumber. We can coordinate the wall with patios, pathways and other parts of your landscape design.

Why Professional Wall Construction Matters

A retaining wall does more than hold stacked materials in place. Its design may need to account for soil pressure, slope, drainage, nearby structures and the weight it is expected to support. Poor construction can lead to wall movement, damage to landscaping and safety concerns.

LaBarge is a masonry contractor and holds Belgard Segmental Retaining Wall (SRW) certification. We assess the site before recommending how to build or repair a wall. LaBarge can build walls up to 6 feet, or to the specifications of an engineer’s drawings where applicable. We have engineering relationships and can assist with the permit process when a project requires it.

Drainage, Details and Materials

Proper drainage is an important part of retaining wall planning. Depending on the project, the proposal may include drainage systems, base preparation, decorative caps, gates or other finishing details.

Your estimate will set out the proposed materials and work, along with any engineering or permit requirements identified for the project.

New Walls and Existing Wall Repairs

LaBarge builds new retaining, planter and perimeter walls. We can also evaluate an existing wall to determine whether a repair is appropriate; the options depend on its condition and the cause of the problem.

New construction includes a one-year workmanship warranty, along with applicable material warranties. Existing wall construction is not covered by the new-construction workmanship warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can LaBarge repair my existing wall?
